Al Sufouh is a coastal district in western Dubai, bounded by Palm Jumeirah to the north and Al Barsha and Emirates Hills to the south. Its second sector, Al Sufouh 2, holds three of Dubai's best-known business free zones: Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge Park. Dubai Media City was built in 2000 and inaugurated in January 2001, and it is a member of TECOM Group.
What makes Al Sufouh & Dubai Media City stand out?
• Homes sit close to major regional media, technology and education employers
• Served by both the Dubai Metro Red Line and the Dubai Tram
• Between Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, the coastal road formerly called Al Sufouh Road
• Palm Jumeirah, Madinat Jumeirah and Dubai Marina are a short drive away
Education
Several established schools are close by, including The International School of Choueifat, GEMS Wellington International School and Dubai College. Check current KHDA ratings and waiting lists before planning a move.
Healthcare
Al Zahra Hospital and Saudi German Hospital, both in Al Barsha, are the nearest large hospitals, with Al Zahra about six minutes from Al Sufouh. Smaller clinics, including an American Hospital clinic in Media City and MediCentre in The Greens, handle routine care.
Transport & connectivity
Dubai Internet City metro station is on the Red Line. The Dubai Tram, open since November 2014, stops at Media City, Palm Jumeirah, Knowledge Village and Al Sufouh, and the Palm Jumeirah tram stop links to the Palm Monorail.
Lifestyle & shopping
Mall of the Emirates and Souk Madinat Jumeirah are each under ten minutes by car, and Dubai Marina Mall is close as well. The beaches along Jumeirah and the restaurants of Madinat Jumeirah are part of everyday life here.
Important note
Much of Dubai Media City has historically been rental-only, while parts of Al Sufouh are freehold. Confirm the freehold status of the specific plot with Dubai Land Department, check that any off-plan project is registered with an escrow account, and measure walking times from the actual building to the tram or metro.
