Overview

Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) is a technology park and free zone owned by the government, covering about 7.2 km². It was announced in 2003, opened in 2004, and is run by the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority. It is located in the Nadd Hessa area at the junction of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and the Dubai–Al Ain Road (E66). Its neighbours include Dubai International Academic City, International City and Liwan.

What makes Dubai Silicon Oasis stand out?
• DSO is often called the free zone where you can live and work, because offices and homes share the same community.
• It is a well-known startup hub, home to Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (Dtec) and Dubai Digital Park.
• It has its own schools and a university campus inside the community.
• RTA's planned Blue Line includes a Dubai Silicon Oasis station, with the line expected to open in 2029.

Education
Schools inside DSO include GEMS Wellington Academy, The Indian International School and Vernus International School. Rochester Institute of Technology has had a campus here since 2008. Dubai International Academic City is next door. Check KHDA ratings before enrolling.

Healthcare
For day-to-day care there are clinics such as Medi Family PolyClinic. Fakeeh University Hospital in Academic City is roughly six minutes away by car.

Transport & connectivity
E311 and E66 border the community, and Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street is close by. For now there is no metro. The closest station is Centrepoint on the Red Line, about 15 minutes by car. RTA buses do run through DSO.

Lifestyle & shopping
Silicon Central Mall and Souq Extra cover most everyday shopping. Supermarkets include Carrefour Market and Al Maya. A walk-in smart police station opened in the community in 2020.

Important note
DSO is a free zone with its own authority, so ask the developer which rules and fees apply to your building. Confirm the freehold status of the exact plot with the Dubai Land Department. Check that the project is registered with DLD/RERA and that off-plan payments go into escrow. The Blue Line opening date is RTA's target, not a promise, so measure distances from your actual plot.
